The Mold Ring is important to good Funnel Cake operation. The "lift-off" ring not only gives you the best results, but it also makes doing Funnel Cakes easy. When pouring the batter into the ring, start by going around the inside edge of the ring, then go back and forth horizontally and vertically. Your funnel cake should have some holes to make it airy and easier to cook through. Cook until slightly golden, then lift off the mold ring and let the Funnel Cake float free, flip, cook ‘til golden.
